Big turn out for the dog show

Well yet again it was a wet Saturday for the dog show but it did ease off enough to go ahead with the show, as it did last year, and we had an excellent turnout of people and dogs.

Our judge was Camilla Osborne from Withielgoose, ably assisted by our regular steward Carol Kent. There were classes for little dogs, large dogs, prettiest bitch, most handsome dog and the ever popular best rescue dog. Unfortunately my four-legged friend, Eddie, let himself down badly by squealing and howling uncontrollably so he had to sit in the van and watch the proceedings through the window – a shame but it couldn’t be ignored and nobody could hear anything!

Camilla did a great job with the judging, looking closely at each dog and moving dogs in the line up until she was happy with her final choice. Margaret Cherry won the class for the best child handler with her spaniel Peggy. Best in Show was won by a tiny chihuahua called Bella who belongs to the Button family who live at Trevidgeowe in Withiel. Bella also won the trophy for the most points in the show and the two brothers, Max and Harry Button, were jointly presented the cup by Camilla.

Huge thanks to everyone who came along and supported the show. It was great to see so many people and well-behaved dogs and I’m hopeful that one day Eddie will be on his best behaviour and take part.
